In the past few decades, we've taken fishing pictures and videos on certain outings, for our own amusement and education and for the entertainment of our friends, but we happily share them with anyone of similar interests. These are uncensored shots of hand-to-fin-combat, mainly with a rod and a rubber boat, a mode of fishing that we and our friends are always trying to imrove upon. Great fun and we hope you like the pictures. |

We are not finding much snow so far this winter, even up here on the windy Rocky Mountain Front. There seems to be a lot of good grass, though, so maybe all the elk, sheep, deer and antelope that spend the winter up here will stay healthy and well fed. The ones I saw today were a long way off but looked very healthy; however the ones in the picture above might actually be particulate debris on the lens of my camera. |

02-January-2012, xxx river, from the dam to xxx bridge (5420 cfs): There were a lot of people out there today including a great many waterfowl hunters on the river or lurking on the islands. People are using this old river pretty hard these days. It was horrifically windy and cold for most of the day and it never got any warmer, even when the sun finally came out. Never did catch any fish, either. Maybe I need to look for some less-crowded fishing venues. |

07-January-2012 (various waters): In search of roads less traveled and to satisfy any curiousity we might have had about whether or not there was any open water up along the Front, we went up to Gibson. Most of the streams and rivers up here are closed to fishing right now,so study the regs before wetting a line; also, most of the reservoir ice is untrustworthy at the moment so it is probably best to stay away from it. Seriously, it might actually be better to just stay home. Bitter wind, treacherous ice conditions and avalanche danger make adventures afield a risky prospect at this time of year. |

04-February-2012, xxx river, from the dam to xxx bridge (5400 cfs): It was quite cold and fairly windy today, so it would probably have been a better day for staying home and planning next summer's garden. Ice formed everywhere that the air could surround a drop of water, so there was ice on the line and on all the gear, and even with gloves, fingertips got numb and clumsy. Early in the day, river splash would freeze on the raft and on waders before it could drain off or drip away. It was pretty good fishing, though, especially for February. And here's an early sign of spring: the rainbows are getting colorful, so spawning will surely start within the next two or three months. Until then, of course, expect two or three more months of winter. So our advice is this: Stay indoors! It's brutal out here, and much better weather is surely coming. We will keep you posted. |
